We understand that many of our ākonga need to travel distances, balance work and training, as well as provide for families and themselves. These commitments cost valuable time and money which some ākonga may not have spare.
This fund is intended to provide financial relief for those who may be struggling in areas such as covering grocery bills, childcare, travel costs, etc. However, it is not intended to cover programme fees or technology expenses, e.g. laptop or mobile phone.
Successful applicants will receive a one-off payment of $500 to ease financial pressure and continue work towards achieving their career goals.
This Manaaki Fund is possible thanks to the funding from Te Pūkenga, allocated to provide financial assistance to alleviate hardship for ākonga who are facing barriers to successfully continuing their training.
