Infrastructure is everywhere - the roads you drive on, the power you use, the water you drink and the telecommunications network. Infrastructure keeps the country running and Connexis trains the people who run the infrastructure.
Our Gateway programmes and school events provide an excellent way to help students get a taste of what a career in infrastructure is like. Read on to learn more about our initiatives.
CONNEXIS GATEWAY PROGRAMMES
Connexis Infrastructure Gateway programmes are a great way into infrastructure. Students in Years 11-13 get hands-on experience with real industries, gain key skills, explore job options and earn NCEA credits.
There are four Connexis Gateway programmes for students to choose within the civil and energy sectors, and each programme combines practical, theory and assessment with unit standards going towards NCEA Level 2 and 3.
Girls with Hi-Vis®
Girls with Hi-Vis® events are held annually in June each year and give young women in Years 11-13 the opportunity to get hands-on experience and inspiration in all infrastructure sectors while at school. Combined with our Gateway programmes, Girls with Hi-Vis® events broaden understanding of the infrastructure industry and the types of roles available within it.

Annual Connection
Annual Connection is a unique three-day competition held in different parts of New Zealand annually. Bringing together Line Mechanics and Cable Jointers who compete to be the best of the best in New Zealand. An invaluable opportunity to spotlight the industry, underscore the importance of electricity safety, and encourage young talents to explore careers in the electricity supply sector.
