Surveying


Connexis has undertaken a review of its Surveying qualifications as part of the NZQA Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ). The review was conducted in partnership with industry, and will ensure that the qualifications remain relevant and continue to meet industry needs effectively. 

Three new qualifications have been developed as part of the review. These will replace the existing qualifications which are expiring. Candidates who are enrolled in the expiring qualifications will need to have all the required unit standards assessed and registered on their NZQA Record of Achievement by 31 December 2019 in order to achieve the qualification.

Opening for enrolment in May 2017.

The New Zealand Certificate in Surveying Level 4 is an entry-level qualification and is the essential 'first step’ for those wishing to pursue a career in the Land Surveying sector.

Developed in partnership with the NZ Institute of Surveyors and other industry technical experts, it will equip candidates with the skills and knowledge to work safely, collect basic survey information and present it in a range of useable forms, and apply practical skills, under the supervision of a professional surveyor or survey technician. 

This qualification replaces the expiring National Certificate in Surveying (Assistant) (Level 3) [NZQA Ref: 0432 version 5 and 6). The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification was 31 December 2016, and the last date of assessment is 31 December 2019. 

    New Zealand Certificate in Hydrographic Surveying

    This qualification is currently under development and will be open for enrolment in July 2017.

    It replaces the expiring National Diploma in Surveying (Hydrographic Surveying) (Level 4) [NZQA Ref: 1444]. The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification was 31 December 2016, and the last date of assessment is 31 December 2019. 


    New Zealand Diploma in Surveying

    This qualification is currently under development and will be open for enrolment in early 2018.

    It replaces the expiring National Diploma in Surveying with an optional strand in Mine Surveying (Level 6) [NZQA Ref: 0453 version 6 and 7].
    The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification was 31 December 2016, and the last date of assessment is 31 December 2019.
