Financial support for Employers
Fees Free
From the start of 2025, trainees entering their final-year of study or training, and who have not received the first-year Fees Free entitlement, may be eligible for the new scheme.
Note: For work-based learning, Fees Free covers the cost of fees for the final year of study or final two years of work-based learning, up to $12,000 including GST.
To be eligible, Connexis trainees will need to be enrolled in training programmes at Level 3 or above or the equivalent of 120 credits or more on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework and provide their IRD number at the time of enrolment.

To be eligible, an apprentice must be enrolled in a particular qualification. Under these guidelines, selected Connexis Energy programmes qualify for the Apprenticeship Boost. You can see these here.
Apprenticeship Boost is a multi-agency collaboration between Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education Commission and Ministry of Social Development.
