Chorus WTC 3 - Overhead Network - Poles
To meet Chorus’ minimum Health and Safety competency requirements for workers. This course covers the requirements for work involving access to any pole, including working in the vicinity of low voltage overhead powerlines and the installation of overhead telecommunications equipment.
Who Should Attend
Anyone working in the vicinity of overhead networks who is required to hold the WTC3 competency, including workers involved in the installation and maintenance of overhead telecommunications services, pole-mounted hardware and pole replacement.

What you Will learn
- Carry out pre-climbing safety checks.
- Selection and use of climbing equipment.
- Identify hazards and safely use, check and fit safety harnesses and associated equipment.
- Demonstrating knowledge of the rescue plan to be activated in the event of a fall.
- Carry out and report on the rescue of a victim from an electricity or telecommunications structure.
NZQA Unit Standards
10509: Climb and work on electricity network structures.
23229: Use safety harness system when working at height.
Choose
17025: Rescue a victim from an electrical structure
or for lone workers, an acceptable alternative standard is 25045
25045: Employ height safety equipment in the workplace.
Optional
15757: Use, install and disestablish temporary proprietary height safety systems when working at height. (Only required if proprietary fall arrest systems used).

Must hold the required Unit Standards for WTC 1 - Underground Networks
