Kia ora koutou,
The team has been busy with new assessor applications, internal moderation requests and working on the new Assessor portal. We have updates on EWRB Capstone assessment, 4098 assessor training dates, Invoicing, and dates for Assessor forums to announce, so please read on.
Assessor Portal Update
Assessors have been asked to continue reporting results using the results workbook while we resolve an issue with capturing dates in the portal. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we fix some bugs in the system and will advise on our website and via email when the portal will be available for you to use.
Please remember that once the portal is up and running, it is only for reporting results for trainees enrolled in a Connexis Training Plan. All other assessment results are to be reported using the Connexis Assessment Results Workbook.
New Assessor Invoice template
To assist with prompt payment, we are requesting all assessors to note whether the assessment for each trainee was competent or not competent. The finance team have developed a template you can adapt for your purposes that provides space for adding the assessment outcome, type and includes a formula for calculating the GST. A copy for your use can be found here for non-RCC assessments and here for RCC assessments, or please email us at quality@connexis.org.nz to request a copy.
2022 Moderation
Our internal moderation plan is underway and many of you will have already received a request to submit assessments for moderation. Please ensure you send them within the timeframe requested so we can manage the workload for our moderators.
The establishment of the WDC’s in 2021 means that Connexis is now required to partake in external moderation when requested by the relevant WDC. If you receive a request from the quality assurance team for samples for WDC external moderation, please ensure that you return your assessment samples to Connexis by the due date so that we can record the submissions and submit the assessments to meet the WDC timeframes.
If you have any questions regarding moderation, please email your query to quality@connexis.org.nz
Assessor forums
This year we are holding Assessor forums at venues nationally as well as online. The purpose of the forums is to reinforce good assessment practice and share knowledge to promote sound assessment evidence-based decisions. We will hold separate sessions for WRT and Water industry assessors, with the remaining meetings open to all assessors. As a reminder, it is a requirement for all assessors to participate in a forum at least once every two years, as well as engage in post-assessment moderation when requested.
Please check out the proposed dates below to find a date that suits you. We will determine if we have sufficient numbers for each location to go ahead with face-to-face meetings, otherwise, if not or there is a change to Covid alert levels, we have the option of moving forums online. We will also have online options for those who are unable to attend in person. Please keep a look out for the online registration email, which will be sent once we confirm all venues, or you can email us at quality@connexis.org.nz to register your interest.

EWRB Capstone assessment
Capstone standards have been put in place for the electricity supply industry to ensure national consistency for the assessment of standards carried out through providers or work-based learning. The process was developed by the EWRB working group, which included representatives from Waihanga Ara Rau, electricity supply industry, PTEs, EWRB and Connexis. The working group will oversee the appointment of capstone assessors. For further information, please check out the WDC website page Capstone standards process for Electricity Supply Industry – Waihanga Ara Rau
What is a capstone assessment? A single assessment, encapsulating the key skills and knowledge within a programme of study, to assess trainees ability to demonstrate how well they have achieved the intended learning outcomes.
